How do you verify people on Reddit before meeting? Looking for advice after a close call.

Hey everyone,

This is my first time trying to find an SB through Reddit, and I had a bit of a wake-up call.

I spent a day or two chatting with someone who claimed to be a woman. Thankfully, I decided to do a bit more verification before inviting them to meet, and I discovered they were actually a gay man pretending to be a woman. It could have turned into a really awkward situation if I hadn't checked first.

It made me realize that I probably don't know enough about verifying people safely before meeting.

For those of you who have been doing this for a while:

  • What verification steps do you usually take?
  • What are your non-negotiable checks before agreeing to meet?
  • What are the biggest red flags you've learned to watch out for?
  • Have you ever had similar experiences with fake profiles or catfishing?

I'm not trying to judge anyone's identity, my concern is simply that someone intentionally misrepresented themselves. I'd appreciate any advice on staying safe and avoiding scams or catfishing.

PS: Also is there any way that you guys use to prove to the SB that you are genuine ? I guess the truest issue goes both ways, if there anything that has worked consistently for you please share that as well. (Any SBs have any suggestions on this please feel free to comment or DM if you are concerned with privacy over a public comment, I genuinely would like to heard about your thoughts)

Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Am I the Only One Struggling to Find a Sugar Baby?

Is anyone else just completely exhausted trying to find a genuine sugar baby on Reddit?

It feels like half the people I connect with want to switch to a virtual arrangement, even after I've already said that's not something I'm interested in.

The ones who actually seem interesting end up ghosting after two or three messages.

Hardly anyone wants to actually meet up, grab a coffee, and see if there's a real connection in person. Instead, it feels like every other conversation turns into someone trying to sell nudes on Telegram or push content.

And when I do find someone who's real, they're only interested in something short-term. I'm looking for a genuine long-term sugar arrangement, and that seems almost impossible to find these days.

I honestly miss my previous sugar baby so much. I really wish you were still here. Things were just... easier.

No offense to anyone who's looking for something different—people want what they want. I'm just tired of spending hours messaging people only for it to go nowhere.

At this point, I think I'm done with Reddit. Maybe it's time to go back to the old-fashioned way of meeting people at clubs or in person. At least then you can figure out pretty quickly if there's real chemistry.

Just needed to vent.

34M SD | Previous Arrangement Ended | Looking to Connect

34M in Bangalore. My previous arrangement recently came to an end, so I'm looking to meet a genuine SB (preferably under 25).

I'm only interested in real meets not looking to start with virtual or online-only. Happy to grab a coffee, have a good conversation, and make sure we're both comfortable before taking things further.

If that sounds like what you're’re looking for, feel free to DM.

Common Questions I've Been Getting as a SD (Answered)

I've been getting a lot of the same questions on my previous post, so instead of answering them one by one, I figured I'd put everything in one place. Hopefully this also helps anyone new who's reading my post.

1. Why is your profile only a few weeks old?

Like I mentioned before, I was in a long term arrangement with an SB who recently relocated out of bangalore for work, so we ended things on good terms. We actually met offline, so I never really had a reason to use Reddit before. After she left a few people suggested I try Reddit since there seems to be a fairly active sugar community here.

2. Why do you ask for pictures?

Honestly, because attraction matters. Im looking for an SB, and physical attraction is obviously part of that. That may sound shallow, but attraction matters in any relationship. I'm happy to exchange pictures as well, and to be clear, I'm not asking for nudes or anything NSFW. Just normal photos that you'd be comfortable sharing publicly or on social media.

3. Why don't you do virtual arrangements or start virtually?

I have learned this lesson the hard way. I dont send money online or upfront before meeting someone and building trust. At the same time, I dont think its fair for me to expect anything from you for free either. If Im not providing support, I dont expect your time or effort without compensation. To avoid misunderstandings, I prefer meeting in person first.

4. Why won't you send an advance or token amount to prove you're genuine?

This is probably the question I get the most.

Personally, I don't think sending ₹3k–₹5k proves much. It doesn't prove I can maintain an arrangement, and it doesn't prove we're compatible. What it does do is create a situation where one person is taking a risk before even meeting.

Instead, my approach is pretty simple. Pick any 4- or 5-star hotel that you're comfortable with and I'll make the booking. I'll send you the confirmation, and you can call the hotel and verify yourself. We can meet in the lobby, restaurant, or any public area of the hotel and see if we even click. (Most hotels have security so it would be a safe place and the room will mostly probably cost more that the token)

To me, that's a much better way of showing that I'm serious than sending a random token payment.

5. Why do you only want someone in Bangalore?

Mostly because I'm busy and don't really have the time or energy to coordinate travel plans all the time. It's just easier when both people are in the same city and can meet without turning every meetup into matching each other schedules and dont get me started on the traffic and the airport location in bangalore.

6. How much allowance do you offer?

There isn't a fixed answer because every arrangement is different.

Things like compatibility, chemistry, expectations, frequency of meetings, and overall connection all play a role. I'm happy to discuss it openly and negotiate something that works for both of us. If things change down the line, Id rather have an honest conversation than make promises I cant keep.

7. Why are you looking for an SB instead of one-time meets?

Because chemistry takes time to develop. For me intimacy is far more enjoyable when it's with someone I genuinely connect with and enjoy spending time with. I'm looking for a mutually beneficial arrangement with consistency rather than purely transactional one time encounters.

Anyway, those are the questions I get asked most often. If there's something I haven't covered, feel free to ask. I'd rather be upfront about things from the start so nobody ends up wasting their time.
