40m Seeking advice on my new stage in life.

I’m a 40-year-old guy who has been divorced for about three years. I’ve slowly started putting myself back out there, and something unexpected keeps happening.
Most of the women who seem interested in me are in the 18–22 age range. I don’t have anything against age-gap relationships between consenting adults, but I’m honestly not sure where to start or whether it’s even a good idea.
My bigger concern is that I’m in a completely different stage of life. I have more life experience, different priorities, and I don’t want to come across as awkward, immature, or take advantage of a situation.
For anyone around my age who has been through this:
Is it wise to pursue relationships with someone that much younger?
What challenges did you run into?
How did you figure out whether someone was genuinely interested versus just being friendly?
Should I instead focus my efforts on meeting people closer to my own age and life stage?
I’m not looking for judgment—just honest advice from people who have experience navigating dating after divorce.
