My choice for my cocaine legend - Stu Ungar
I'd love to get to the WSOP one day and play a tournament or two. This time every year I watch and it's one of the only places I want to go to and that I'd happily get on a plane for.
Every year I'm reminded of the guy who is my Captain Cocaine.
Sadly he had huge addiction troubles. He was also an expert at poker. Dangerous combination. He'd win thousands and thousands at poker, then blow it on blow, gambling and women.
He played tournaments and very long cash sessions and the coke kept him awake and alert.
I can't type no more so this is Wikipedia to finish off.
**Ungar's drug problem escalated to such a point that during the WSOP Main Event in 1990, Ungar was found on the third day of the tournament unconscious on the floor of his hotel room from a drug overdose. However, he had such a chip lead that even when the dealers kept taking his blinds out every orbit, Ungar still made the final table and finished ninth without playing another hand, pocketing $25,050.[5]
His addiction took such a physical toll that in an ESPN piece, many of Ungar's friends and fellow competitors said that they thought that he would not live to see his fortieth birthday.**
