27 [F4M] Seoul - Any Asian-Americans here? Seeking friends & hangouts!

27 [F4M] Seoul - Any Asian-Americans here? Seeking friends & hangouts!

Hi guys,

I'm a 27F from Montreal and I'm here in Seoul until the end of October. I'm here to do research thanks to a grant from a Canadian funding organization (I'll refrain from boring you right away, but feel free to ask if you want to know more). I've met a ton of Korean friends here, but there's a part of me that misses the ease of interactions you get from people who are on the same wavelength culturally and linguistically (no shade at all LOL).

I've posted here in the past and always got great results. Before anybody jumps to conclusions: yes, I am looking for friends, but I'm also single and not opposed to seeing where things go if we vibe. I'm half Sri Lankan myself, so maybe not "Asian" in the traditional sense of the term (I feel like most people take Asian to mean East and maybe Southeast Asian), but I tend to find myself drawn to people who have a similar cultural background. I like people who share my values - being educated, family-oriented, ambitious, wordly, etc - and I've found that men from my own community and others across Asia often meet these criteria. For reference, this means I tend to like East/Southeast/South Asian men, with the occasional Latino and Arab guy thrown into the mix lol.

I've found in my short time here that Korean guys largely don't really find me attractive, and that's understandable since I'm a far cry from the beauty standard here (pale, thin, and with "cute" features). I've had way more success with Asian men in North America - and that's fine, because there's something to be said about the level of compatibility you'll find with someone who shares a hyphenated identity. Hence the post title... But if you're Korean from Korea proper and see this post, and you wish to reach out, don't let any of what I'm saying stop you.

I'm hoping to make connections in the city, whether you're passing through or based here permanently. I love meeting up with people and talking, trying new restaurants, and checking out fun activities in new neighborhoods. Again, I am looking for friends, and anything that escalates from there will stem naturally from a foundation of friendship. If you want to jump straight to being FWBs or anything else that's romantic in nature, I kindly ask that you look elsewhere.

Hope to hear from you soon.
