Would it surprise you to know that 10% of the posts on GWN are poetry?

Honestly, it surprised us, even though poetry has been part of GWN since its earliest days, almost four and a half years ago. There are now over 200 poetry posts here. All our mods past and present have posted poetic works. And recently, it seems, poetry has caught fire, as we’ve seen an explosion of creativity on the part of writers and VAs embracing this form of narrative expression.

So we thought it was time to honor the genre (sorrynotsorry) with a choice of new flairs.

##You can now post your poems and poetry recitations with new poetry-centric flairs: “Poetry Offer” or “Poetry Reading.”

Whether it’s a sonnet or a slam, iambic pentameter or free verse, odes, a haiku, or something you simply see as more lyrical than a narrated story, feel free to flair it as such. We love seeing it, reading it, and hearing it, but we won’t be actively policing what constitutes poetry, with a lowercase or capital P.

We hope these new flairs will make all things poetic easier to find here and on GWASI. If you’ve already posted your poetry or poetry readings as script offers and fills, you’ll now be able to re-flair your older posts (simply open your old post, click the three dots, and select ‘edit post flair’). The mod team will also be updating older poetry posts with the new flairs as time permits (that is, as we get around to it).

I'm so happy to have read it, and to be filling it for our HEAT challenge this summer, as it is all that but also just plain H-O-T.

Here’s something a little different for the [HEAT] challenge — a meditation of sorts on love lost, and how heat and cold played their parts, fire nurturing love and ice preserving it, as each held the power to destroy what it built.

Hi Everyone - I just joined the mod team here on GWN, and wanted to kick things off with a big hello and a celebration, and to welcome all the new creators who've chosen to share here. It's always exciting to hear new voices, spoken and written.

As AI creeps and seeps into our creative lives, and porn becomes increasingly reductionist, it's more important than ever to use our genuine intelligence, creativity and heart to tell stories -- and that's what GWN has always been all about.

My fellow mods invited me to choose a theme for this summer's event/challenge, and I hope you'll join us in a celebration of HEAT, with your writing, performance, and enthusiastic consent support. The celebration launches today and officially ends on August 15th but hey, [HEAT]'s a tag. Use it whenever you want.

Take the idea wherever you want. Ice, wax or cigar play...silky, sweaty scent play...sundresses and popsicles...fire eating...banging along with the radiator...anything that makes you melt. NSFW or SFW (tag if SFW), whatever your delightful minds devise.
