Opiates and pain
I don’t know if this is a silly question or not but after using opiates consistently for years, does your tolerance to pain significantly decrease?
I got a small tattoo a couple weeks ago that felt unbearable from start to finish. Can anyone relate to this?
Sucks cuz there are plenty more tattoos I want but I have no idea whether my regular methadone use (combined with my overall longevity tied to street opiates) has genuinely fucked up my ability to handle moderate pain. Furthermore I didn’t initially get into opiates because of pain…it was always a recreational choice I sought out versus the more typical route most go through, starting off by getting prescribed painkillers for of an injury or for long term/break through pain management.
So does methadone or any frequent opiate use impact pain tolerance? To the point where a grown man like myself, slightly overweight can barely handle a small tattoo?
