familia relation must be absolutely fubar in the affini compact

imagine settling up a family reunion in the compact only to find out grandpa is now a 4 ft 5 inch furry cat girl who works in a maid cafe for fun. it's probably a lot more awkward after the universe got altered. hello great ancestor who died at the battle of the bulge. I'm your several times great grandchild and I'm the pet of an extraterrestrial plant.

I've been thinking there were probably a lot of things the affini had to be talked down from outlawing for ridiculous reasons.

I would not put it past a overly protective affini from trying to outlaw paper because her precious terran floret got a paper cut.

I mean for me if I ruled a space empire, I would have a cole protocol built right into my ships. it probably wouldn't beat them but it sure as hell would slow them down. kind of hard to domestic a species when you don't know the locations of all their worlds.

do you still file the notice of intent and find them later or do I just grab them off the street and force them into a wardship.

Because I could totally see an affini learning about the myriad types of terrain marriage ceremonies, thinking it's just the cutest thing in the universe and than starting a service hosting all the different types of ceremonies.

I'll get started it started.

denji from chainsaw man. not only is he technically already someone else's pet, but depending on the time he is florted he's also a package deal with power.

imagine that poor affini trying to wrangle those two while managing their rehabilitation.

lessons for denji: value yourself, you are loved, stop saying weird dirt in public you're scaring the neighbours.

lessons for power: proper bathing habits, flush the toilet every time you use it, stop saying weird dirt in public you're scaring the neighbours.

I mean I know it wouldn't do too much damage because they would probably cure/contain it very quickly and it would probably only kill a few ships worth of affini. but I would not be surprised if some species at least didn't try using biological weapons.

in fact with their firebreak system it might be the only weapon that could actually do any damage. though it would be one of those, "all that work for a drop of blood moments / worlds most expensive nose bleeds".

heres the parameters.

you are basically the absolute ruler of the entire terran accord. your word is law and no one will question the orders you give. humanity will not win the war because of the affini's immense advantages in technology and numbers, but you are still allowed to attempt and fight back against them. your goal is to use any method necessary to get them to agree to a better deal for humanity. you could create valuable technology that the affini would give next to anything to get their hands on like advanced nanobots or gene editing technology that can extend the life or reverse the aging of xenosophant species making them functionally ageless or you can focus on making advanced weapons to slow the affini down as much as possible making them more willing to agree to certain privileges so we surrender sooner to reduce the cost of life. any method that can get humanity a better deal is open to you.

to make this a little more fair for people who want to go the military route, the Roswell spaceship crash was real and was an affini scout ship. the crash gives you access to 2 affini who are dormant/dead due to the crashing in the desert, 1 damaged affini scout ship and several affini data pads that are in various states of functionality.

I'm mean outside of the propaganda there is actually a lot of legitimate reasons to be afraid of the affini. outside the technological advantages, they are basically unstoppable monsters that nothing short of a fall from orbit, a direct nuclear strike, or a rail gun shot at point blank range can actually do any damage and even than they'll probably just rebloom and survive. throw all that together and add their inability to respect any personal boundaries even inside someone's body and you basically have a horror movie monster that gets killed at the end of the movie by one of the survivors driving their spaceship directly into the sun and even than the ending sting shows it still alive.

with all that in mind it would not suprise me in the slightest if someone didn't go full moleman and than proceeded to pray to any deity that was listening that they are never found.
