[discussion] lessening the risk
i've been buying content for almost 7 years, mostly through OF, and for the majority of that time i've never spoke to other buyers and found out how they go about their business. i've been winging it as such without any advice. i only recently got back on reddit and started joining subs like this one and seeing other buyers talk about what to watch out for and different experiences they've had, good or bad, has been interesting. it seems like we all start noticing the same red/green flags creators give off. i'd be interested in hearing how buyers go about things and how do you check for red flags before subbing
my routine i've gotten in to after i spot someone i like is to check the profile on whichever platform it might be. using reddit as an example, i would click on their page and look at their numbers. i'm not really suspicious of high karma. there are accounts who are either terminally online or they've been around a long time. it's the low karma ones i'm suss about. anything that's like 3 years old with 2 karma, im not interested. it's either fake or a low effort creator. either way im not taking the risk. what's her posts like? are the captions "upvote this and i'll send nudes". do they post the same picture 50 times across different subs? do they hide their posts and comments? if an account shows any signs of those i'm not interested
moving on to their links, if they have x instagram or anything else i have a look through their profile. do they look genuine? then i check their OF or fansly, without subbing. i'm still getting used to fansly so i can't comment much on that but on OF the first thing i do is again look at the numbers. what's the likes to media ratio like? while there are genuine reasons why that ratio could be high without an agency being involved when the ratio is in the thousands i'm not taking the risk. there's exceptions but it's a good of thumb. what's the bio like? if they can't be arsed putting in effort to something like a bio then that doesn't fill me with confidence that their content will be much better. always scroll right down and read any disclaimers since there's been a recent trend of accounts literally saying "me and my team strive to give you the best experience....". MY TEAM being the important part there. are they pinging available? i'd watch for that over being available 24/7 or the availability being hidden. if they do, i avoid them
from there if all that seems fine i'll watch their account where i originally found them for a little bit. maybe a week or so. i'm just looking for how consistent and interactive they are. if all the signs are good then i sub. might seem a little overkill but all that lessens the risk i'm taking when i decide to sub. even after all that there's still things you need to watch out for and that deserves its own post but it gives me a much better chance of finding a legit creator who isn't using an agency or a chatter or isn't just a low effort page
so how does everyone else go about bringing down their risk before deciding to sub? what's good habits to get in to?
