To be fair, I shouldn’t be encouraging you, but I’ve got the house to myself this morning, and can’t get past this particular urge to indulge.

It’s not often that I get the entire house to myself, let alone for an entire weekend. That’s why it’s important to take full advantage when the situation does arise. Since Amanda and the kids are out of town, I thought it’d be the perfect opportunity to catch up on some long overdue yard work.

My morning began smoothly - knocking out the front and back yards with a thorough mow, followed by some precision edging. Next were the gutters, followed by a garden bed cleanup. Despite the pleasant spring weather, it wasn’t long before I began working up a sweat - losing my shirt in order to resolve this farmer’s tan.

Moving into the afternoon, I decided to take full advantage of this momentum, and tackle the extensive French drain project I’d been planning. In retrospect, I probably should have quit while I was ahead, as my troubles began soon after I began digging. Long story short, what I thought was a thick tree root ended up being our water main…

The good news is that I was able to stop the flow before causing too much damage. The bad news is that I’m without running water until Monday, at which point the city will send a team to repair the water line.

So that’s why the dad next-door is here at your doorstep, absolutely drenched and wearing only my shorts, which leave nothing to the imagination. I noticed you were home alone, and wanted to ask if you’d be kind enough to let me use your shower.

I’ll be in and out, I promise.
