Is play violence encouraging dark behavior?

I've been lurking for a long time and created a throwaway acct. Male SW here.

I had a new client who hired me for a session that started with wrestling. It's not a fetish of mine, but I had randomly checked it as an interest not thinking about it when I set up my profile a while ago. The client was great from beginning to end. Told me what to expect prior to the appt, answered all my questions, told me what he was looking for and was very respectful of boundaries.

Once in the session, it became more than wrestling. He would play punch (fist shaped but barely a tap in terms of contact, a pretend slap which again was just a tap). Intuiting clients, I started acting as if the fake punches were causing real pain (clutching stomach etc). To his credit even though I allowed for escalation in the acting, he didn't lose control. The sex portion was non aggressive and gentle.

What I worry about is that this play fighting kink could be encouraging violence towards guys and/or SW? Or maybe it's just him play fighting and I am overthinking it? If it had just been the wrestling I wouldn't think about it, but the punching/strangling (ribs, gut, etc - I told him no neck touching in advance so simulated) and my acting in pain as a turn on makes me wonder. He did say that he's had other providers say they were into it but then don't follow through once in session which makes me second guess even more.

Any thoughts on this? Maybe from a dom perspective? My niche is very BFE, gentle intimacy so this is newer/unique situation to me.
