Hello, this is my first latex garment, I bought something a little looser because I couldn't stand tight fits around my ribcage (dealing with a long term respiratory issue). However, this garment's shoulder straps are way too long, I want the neck to sit a bit higher on my chest.

My instinct is to carefully cut the strap, cut off the excess and then glue them back together in the same overlapping fashion already seen on my garment. Is there anything I should keep in mind?

Some relevant info: My garment doesn't have a back zipper, I have experience in manual crafts and sewing, I have breasts, I have and know how to use contact cement (is that appropriate glue?)

Is there a way to unstick the sealed edges so i can overlap them where I will be doing my modifications for a more secure bond?
