Ksenia's Visit

Tech is pretty simple if you have the right equipment. Nylon scrim with natural light coming through and wrapping around her. The trick is to use lenses that handle backlighting well. These were the Nikon 58mm f1.4G at f3.2 ISO 200. For different crop I also used the Zeiss Otus 85mm which also preserves sharpness and contrast with backlight.

it came out exactly as I planned (for better or worse) even though I switched from strobe to natural lighting mid-stream. soft window light. no tricks.

Though she has become a well-experienced model, I believe that I did her first professional shoot.

Got a comment on an earlier posting asking if her eyes were real in the photo. Ksenia has piercing light blue eyes that need no manipulation. This shot, though looking like a studio, was simply a black wall in front of a window creating direct, soft natural light on her natural figure.
