Flair says shitpost but this is a shower thought.
For those who don't know about the T'au from Warhammer 40k, they're a relatively new alien species to the scene, only about 7000 years old. In that time, they've gone from the stone age to a spacefaring coalition of multiple species, with technology that matches and even surpasses the Imperium of Man.
Both T'au and the Affini have: much better material conditions (compared to the alternative), a fairly egalitarian society, a stratified and unchangeable social structure (Affini/sophont/floret vs caste system), some level of mind control on a societal level, a driving ideology justifying their actions, and imperialist tendencies.
