first and foremost i am aware of the risks associated with shock collars and estim applied to the neck area, i am not advocating for these risks nor am i encouraging anyone to use estim in risky manners, the point of this post is to ask if anyone might know why a specific hardware issue is happening, i do not apply consistent shocks to the neck area and i take steps to ensure relative safe play,
i’m using a PETRAINER® PET521 Remote BDSM
Shock Collar from Barkaholics, initially when i was triggering the shock it would create a pleasant muscle twitching sensation with zero pain but now, a couple months after purchasing, when activating the shock it creates the muscle twitching sensation but with a sharp and unpleasant painful feeling at the same time focused on the contact point between the skin and rubber over the metal prongs,
a friend of mine who later bought a pair of the same collars for himself found his collars producing the same painful feeling in the same way and when i tried his pair i confirmed it feels the same as mine do now,
ive tried using the collars on full charge and low charge, on multiple spots in the “(relatively) safe” spot on the neck (right side away from the arteries) and on my upper arm, same painful feeling each time,
has anyone had a similar experience with similar devices? is there a way to prevent the painful feeling and go back to the fun, non painful muscle jolts? my theory is maybe the replaceable contact points might be degrading slightly or maybe the internal battery is unloading more power per jolt or something, i’m not versed in electrical hardware though so honestly im just guessing
