Frugal + Slow travel Europe
Have planned an ~85 day Europe summer slow-travel journey from July–September 2026 across Italy 🇮🇹 Germany 🇩🇪 Netherlands 🇳🇱 and France 🇫🇷. We’ll be staying in Anzio near Rome, Munich, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Cap d’Agde, Provence and the French Riviera, with the longest stay being a full month in Grans, France. Most travel is overland using Trenitalia high-speed trains, German DB ICE trains, French TGVs and FlixBuses — following the route Rome → Bologna → Munich → Düsseldorf → Netherlands → Amsterdam → Paris → South France. Most accommodations are booked through the Guest Points system on [HomeExchange](https://www.homeexchange.com), which has made long-term Europe travel surprisingly affordable. Approx total trip value per traveller is around ₹1.25L–1.45L including flights, transport and stays (excluding food/shopping). Looking forward to Mediterranean beaches, Alps scenery, Provence villages, vineyards, Dutch cities and a proper slow Europe experience instead of rushed tourism 🚆🌍🍷
I usually book very cheap. This calculation is on Mumbai rome. Return. Saudi air. For 38000 per person. Booked in jan 26. For travel in July. I use the Google flights to research options and put a alert for cheap flights. You can search Mumbai to western Europe in that. I use kiwi app to book.
I use scapia credit card for travel out of country. Zero foreign exchange markup and 10 percent reward.
