I’m trying to get a better understanding of what the local kink/lifestyle scene looks like beyond the obvious public-facing options.

I know about the more visible layers like FetLife, public events, munches, and some organized parties, but I’m curious how much of the actual community happens through more private channels once people are known and vetted.

Are there many private groups, invite-only socials, house parties, hotel takeovers, couples-only events, themed nights, Telegram/Signal/Discord groups, or smaller circles that people eventually hear about through attending public events?

I’m not asking for names, invites, or access to anything private. I’m more trying to understand the general structure of the scene, how people usually move from public events into more trusted spaces, and what the etiquette is for doing that respectfully.

For people who have been around the scene longer, what should someone new understand about the difference between the public layer and the private/community layer?
