My mother passed this simple, affordable recipe down to me, so I’m passing it on.
Bake the biscuits at 350° for 18–22 minutes. Brown 1 lb. of breakfast sausage, stir in 1 tbsp. flour, then slowly add 2 cups milk. Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until it begins to thicken, then remove from heat and let it rest ~it’ll thicken more as it cools.
About $8 with eggs makes 3–4 plates. Knowing how to make a little feed a lot is survival knowledge.

The other post I made here was really important—all the discussion and debate that stemmed from it. But one of the comments I read basically said that I was just upset because I didn’t get any upvotes on my posts; then that person criticized my body and, ultimately, everything about me. But that made me wonder: why do Black and ordinary bodies bother people so much? What crime is that? Isn’t the erasure we’ve suffered already enough? Have you read about the case of the Black professor at the University of Cambridge who likely took his own life because he had taken a position that was rightfully his, and the institution went on to scrutinize his academic abilities to see how he had gotten there? Well, I’m not going to erase myself because of other people’s racism—I’m going to empower myself and empower others like me.
