HZD Grip Review – First Impressions of a Chastity Device Without Base Ring

Hey, I recently received the HZD Grip and wanted to share my thoughts on it.

Quality, workmanship, and discreet packaging are all excellent. The sizing also fits very well. I seem to have measured reasonably accurately. I tried it on right away, and the wearing comfort is also great.

I initially used a standard glans ring and found that I could no longer pull the penis out. However, I can fairly easily slide a finger in from the shaft side and pull the glans ring off. After that, I tried both the smaller ring sizes and those with upper wings. Unfortunately, even with the smallest wearable ring that has upper wings, I was still able to remove the Grip. Of course, I keep in mind that once removed, it cannot simply be put back on, because the glans ring sits far too tightly to be worked back over the glans while the cage is in place.

This means that with a strict keyholder by my side who consistently punishes any escape attempts, the Grip would work anatomically for me. I will talk to my wife to see whether she is interested in this cage design.

The design allows erections. This is a major advantage for blood circulation, but a disadvantage for those who prefer a more restrictive wearing sensation. Personally, I really like that my current cage blocks erections.

I cannot yet say whether I can reach orgasm with the Grip without difficulty, as I have not tested this sufficiently.

I find it a pity that, while I can pull on the Grip and have no chance of escaping that way, with a bit of skill it is still possible to strip the glans ring off from below using a finger.

I love the new concept behind the Grip, but I miss the restrictive design of ball-trap devices. I also believe that if the glans ring were combined with a standard cage that covers the full shaft length plus a scrotal ring, it could work truly securely for me. As soon as access to the glans ring from below is no longer possible, the Grip would be absolutely secure against unauthorized removal.

Is there any plan to also release the Grip as a ball-trap device?

Mature Metal Review

https://maturemetal.com

The Jail Bird was my first custom device. Later I added the Spyder, the device William himself wears.

I've purchased devices for a lot of custom artisans, and Mature Metal stands out. It's not because they have the best cages under the sun; it's because of their consultative approach and their deep knowledge of fit and comfort — yes, even Mistress Mature Metal.

I have so much trust in their methodology and customer service (for god's sake, they publish their cell phone numbers on the website), when I advise people on their first device, I either suggest Amazon cages or just going straight to Mature Metal.

Ok, so beyond customer service, let's talk about design.

William basically is working with the tools of a home metal shop. I know nothing about metalwork but he doesn't have the capabilities of an industrial shop and he doesn't use metal 3D printing. That means he can't support barrel locks. He has two options, a padlock and a security screw (if you opt for the screw, you can still use the padlock).

I have actually tried the padlock and all of the fears around padlocks are unfounded — I didn't hear any clanking or rattling as the lock fits in the junction snugly and doesn't move. That being said, I still prefer the screw.

The screw, being side mounted, can be difficult to start but once you get used to it, it's pretty straightforward.

The rings are plain 1/4" roundbar and weight about 50 g depending on the size. All told both my Jail Bird and Spyder weigh about 160 g or a bit over 5 oz — enough weight that you'll know it's there. If you prefer a broader ring, he can double them up similar to Cherry Keeper's double rings.

A bit on quality: the only this-isn't-perfect issue I've seen on my devices is small black divots where some of the welds are. I'm not a welder so I don't know the cause — if it's an equipment capability issue or a skill issue. I did have an issue on my Spyder after sending it in for a modification — there was a metal droplet inside the junction preventing the screw from entering. They fixed it and paid for shipping both ways.

Contrasting Mature Metal with his main competitor, BAWR, I'd say MM's biggest advantages are the customer service and their willingness to make post-sale adjustments. BAWR's advantage is his capabilities are more advanced.

Mature Metal has been around forever, over 20 years. They've made over 20K devices and I've seldom seen someone complain about their Mature Metal cage.
