My wife and I are expecting our first baby, and I’m curious how other nudist families approached raising their children around nudity.

I’m a nudist, while my wife grew up in a family that was very tolerant of nudity but isn’t necessarily comfortable being nude herself. She’s completely comfortable with the idea of us being naked around our baby and doesn’t see it as an issue. The bigger difference is that I’m pretty much always naked at home, while she is hardly ever nude.

For those of you who grew up nudist or have raised children in a nudist household, do you think parents need to get on the same page about how much nudity is going to be part of everyday family life? Is it important to establish some kind of shared expectation, or is it perfectly fine for one parent to be nude regularly while the other usually stays clothed?

And more generally, what did you do to establish a healthy, normal, body-positive relationship with nudity from an early age? Were there things you intentionally did, or avoided doing, to help your child understand that nudity is simply a normal part of life and not inherently sexual?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from parents about how this evolved as their children got older. Thanks so much for your insight!

“I don’t really have anywhere nearby where I can legally be nude, so sometimes I’ll walk through the park at night and, once no one is around, take my shorts off. If I saw someone, I’d immediately put them back on. But if I got caught, how much trouble could I be in? Is it really worth the risk? I love being naked, so sometimes it’s hard to resist.”

Curious about trying a skinny dip at Horsetooth Reservoir since it’s only about 10 minutes from my house. I’d be keeping it low-key and looking for a secluded cove away from other visitors. Does anyone know how it’s generally viewed or enforced there? I’m not looking to bother anyone, I just want to avoid getting into trouble. Thanks!

I need your thoughts and feedback on an idea I had! I live about 90 minutes from a nudist hiking area. I know there are some potential risks… but I really have the urge to leave my clothes at home and drive the whole way. I know it sounds crazy but that’s partly why I want to try it. what do you guys think?

Really hoping I can find a good spot near Fort Collins. There are no organized resorts or permitted nude areas anywhere nearby. wondering if anyone on here has a good spot that they know of. Thanks!

I live in Northern Colorado and there obviously isn’t very much in the way of established nudist resorts. I’m wondering if there’s anybody else that lives up in this area that knows of any secret areas or go to places that make it easier to be nude. Much appreciated!

I veered to the right and hiked down toward the water, past the other hikers, then walked along the river’s edge until I reached the large rocks where the nudists were tanning. At that point, I realized I basically had two options: go all the way back upstream the way I’d originally come, or hike up the steep face. I chose the steep face, but I didn’t realize how difficult it was going to be. I have a back injury, so unfortunately that steep route is just too difficult for me.

Is there another route I’m missing, or am I okay to just hike the other trail naked even though there might be clothed hikers on it? lol
