Thought I would share this. I use a hollow "1 gauge" PA pin, right between 2g and 0g. It fills my piercing hole just right and allows a free stream, so no urine in the cage or under the head, which is key for long lockups.
Don't worry, I cleaned the sink thoroughly after!
