Weed inducing mild psychosis on DXM?

Why is it that weed always be ruining my DXM trips? Sometimes they mix well and it just makes the experience way better but a good 50% of the time it just throws me into a mild state of psychosis and intense paranoia. I only really smoke 5-7 hours in, once I feel like I'm starting to come down, but literally half the time I do it, it ruins my DXM experience.

Does this happen to anyone else? Anyone know why? Is it a glutamate thing or something like that?
