How Old Are You?
Just curious about what the average age of 7oh consumers are in here? I started with 21 because this is a 21+ community and 7oh is a 21+ product. I ended at 70-79 because Reddit polls only allow 6 options.
Philly ban passed to next step
Very very disappointed how this went in our own city today. They stated no one wrote in written public testimony which we know is a lie but she stated no one asked for it to go on public comment so that was sneaky that you had to ask! 2nd all the hearings and fighting we do and not one person could come stand up there with us from the area that was not a v3nd0r is heartbreaking. This next hearing is going to be in front of all 17 city council members it was voted today to pass on to a full vote. Just remember guys if they get this banned for s@l3 without fd@ approval the next step will be to get it fully banned. They need true stories in their court room they need saved faces. There were more people there for this bill than against it and with all the people we have in the area that is just totally wrong. I understand it was short notice, people have work ,kids ect but we need bodies at this next one if Philly goes down I promise you all cities surrounding will follow suit!!!

speak4.appRecent Newsletter Email From 7 Hope Alliance: What We Know
Incase you missed it or are not subscribed to 7 Hope Alliance emails, here's the recent newsletter:
Dear Advocates,
This has been one of the most significant and momentum-shifting weeks yet in the fight to protect kratom and natural 7-OH nationwide. For the first time ever, President Trump publicly referenced the idea of approving “natural 7-OH,” bringing national attention to an issue millions of Americans care deeply about. At the same time, former FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, one of the leading voices behind efforts to schedule 7-OH, is no longer leading the agency, potentially creating a new opportunity for real science, consumer safety data and lived experiences to finally be heard.
We also know there has been a tremendous amount of noise, rumors, speculation and misinformation circulating these developments. Because of that, we wanted to take a moment to cut through the distractions, share our optimism, and tell you what we actually KNOW.
What We Know
We KNOW that President Trump publicly stated that his administration is looking at pathways for approving “natural 7-OH.” Many people continue to claim he “really meant kratom,” but that is not what he said - or what he clearly read. Rewatch the video for yourself below.
We also KNOW that 7-OH is a naturally occurring alkaloid found in the kratom plant, and that the same alkaloid exists in the countless natural 7-OH products currently being used by responsible adults across the country.
We KNOW that former FDA Commissioner Marty Makary was one of the leading voices behind the scheduling efforts against 7-OH. It is a fact that he is no longer leading the FDA, which potentially creates a new opportunity to ensure real science, consumer safety data, and the lived experiences of thousands of responsible 7-OH consumers may finally be heard by FDA and HHS decision makers.
We KNOW there are anti-7-OH actors actively spreading rumors, fear, misinformation and hypocritical comparisons in an effort to create panic and confusion. We expected this would happen as momentum shifted.
We KNOW that millions of Americans continue to rely on kratom and natural 7-OH products as part of their health and wellness journeys. We continue to be the only consumer protection organization fighting to protect the entire kratom plant and ensure safe access for all kratom consumers. We are grateful for our incredible advocates who are helping shift this fight every single day.
And finally, we KNOW advocacy works - and that’s been shown now more than ever.
What We Are Seeing
What we ARE seeing is a significant shift in momentum in our direction, with growing public awareness around the motives and misinformation that helped fuel this escalating fight. More advocates, consumers and everyday Americans are standing up for regulation over prohibition, science over fear, and consumer freedom over political narratives and misinformation.
We ARE also seeing our opposition increasingly more aggressive in their approach. At 7-HOPE, we have always been committed to truth and transparency with this community, from science and education to lawmaker engagement and advocacy, and every one of us stands by that commitment. We understand that others will continue to use false claims and personal attacks against our members as their tactics. We simply will not engage. From day one, we chose to focus on bringing this entire plant community together through facts, science, advocacy and a path forward. Division within the community helps the prohibitionists and big pharma. And it is clear that this is time for unity.
Bottom Line
Despite what some might say, this week created tremendous optimism for our cause and we wanted to share that with you. We remain committed to educating and informing this community and will share any critical update as soon as we can. Right now, we are monitoring developments moment by moment and continuing to share, in real time, what we ACTUALLY know.
Thank you to every advocate, consumer, researcher and supporter who continues to stand with us and fight alongside us every single day. Your voices, your advocacy, your stories and your commitment are making a real impact, and this movement has never been stronger because of all of you. We must remain Focused, Organized, Loud, and United in our fight to protect safe access to kratom and natural 7-OH nationwide.
NY bills "Synthetic Kratom Kills Act"
**These bills don't have a scheduled hearing, but it's better to get ahead of it. I believe NY's session ends June 4th, and if they believe it's a major issue, it can move quickly.
NY A10969/S10514
“Synthetic Kratom Kills Act”
which would ban synthetic or adulterated kratom products, flavored products aimed at minors, vape/injectable kratom products, and products with over 2% 7-hydroxymitragynine. It also bans sales to anyone under 21 and requires child-resistant packaging, testing, and clear labeling.
We want fair regulation, prohibition!

Below is somewhat of a template and points to touch on when emailing NY senators. Also, always add your story in an email and explain how a ban would affect you.
“I am writing to as a consumer to respectfully oppose bills A10969 and S10514. While parts of these bills involve reasonable consumer protections, they would also ban kratom products containing over 2% 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), which could severely impact responsible consumers who rely on these products.
I ask that you carefully consider the science. 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) is a naturally occurring alkaloid found in the kratom plant (Mitragyna speciosa),
a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia. It is not a novel synthetic drug, nor is it a laboratory invention. 7-OH is naturally produced by the body after consuming kratom’s primary alkaloid, mitragynine. Banning 7OH could therefore have broader implications for kratom access as a whole, beyond what may be intended.
Policies should be grounded in science, evidence, and consumer safety—not confusion or overly broad classification. Many responsible consumers rely on 7OH as part of their daily lives, and sweeping restrictions could have serious unintended consequences. Individuals who depend on it for health or harm reduction may suffer greatly. Removing access risks pushing people toward unsafe alternatives, including illicit substances, or leaving them unable to function in daily life.
Rather than prohibition, I strongly encourage you to consider responsible regulation and consumer protections.
I respectfully ask that you oppose these bills or amend them to ensure fair, evidence-based treatment of natural kratom alkaloids and harm-reduction options.”
📢Quick Reminder About Our Subreddit Rules Regarding Research Chemicals📢
This community is focused on 7-hydroxymitragynine (7oh), kratom, mitragynine pseudoindoxyl (pseudo), and mitragynine extracts (mit). We know people are curious about other substances, but we do not allow discussion of research chemicals like MGM-15 or SR-17018 here.
Neither of those substances are found in kratom or are metabolites of kratom.
That includes trying to sneak around the rule with nicknames or coded terms like “Emily,” “Casino,” “EmGeeEm,” etc. We see it. You are not as slick as you think 😂
This rule is not about being controlling or judging anyone. These substances have very limited research and safety data, and we want to keep this community as safe and focused as possible.
There are other subreddits specifically dedicated to discussing those compounds, and we encourage people to keep those conversations there instead of bringing them here.
We appreciate everyone who helps keep the community respectful, informed, and on topic. Thanks for understanding.

“🚨 Michigan HB 5537 — Senate action needed now”
🚨 Michigan HB 5537 – ACTION NEEDED
HB 5537 has passed the House and is now moving through the Senate. If passed, it would criminalize the growing, sale, or distribution of plain leaf kratom — a plant many adults use for pain, anxiety, and daily functioning.
This is the point where public input matters most. Many people are asking for regulation (testing, labeling, oversight), not prohibition or criminal penalties.
If you can take 1–2 minutes today, please send a short message opposing HB 5537 and supporting regulation instead.
Even one contact helps.

columbiatribune.comThe “7oh Binds Stronger Than Morphine” Claim Is Based on a Misreading of the Data
There’s a lot of misinformation going around about 7oh because people are misreading receptor binding studies.
One of the biggest claims being repeated is that 7oh binds stronger to MOR than morphine. That is not what the data shows.
What the studies actually show is that 7oh binds much stronger than mitragynine, but much weaker than morphine.
From Obeng et al. 2021, which directly compared mitragynine, 7oh, and morphine side by side in human mu opioid receptors:
Mitragynine Ki = 709 nM
7oh Ki = 77.9 nM
Morphine Ki = 4.19 nM
Lower Ki = stronger binding affinity.
So yes, 7oh binds about 14 to 22 times stronger at MOR than mitragynine.
But 7oh also binds about 14 to 22 times WEAKER at MOR than morphine.
A lot of people are repeating the “14x stronger” claim without mentioning that the comparison was against mitragynine, not morphine.
This misunderstanding has been repeated so often that many people now believe 7oh has stronger MOR binding than morphine, when the actual receptor binding data shows the opposite.
Obeng 2021 is considered one of the strongest references on this topic because it tested all three compounds in the same study using human MORs instead of pulling numbers from unrelated studies.
EDIT: I added a link in the comments to the Obeng 2021 study that was referenced in this post.
How the FDA and Media Are Colluding to Kill 7-OH and Protect Their Own
Older article but an excellent read.
Everyone in the 7oh and Kratom Community Should Do This NOW!
One thing EVERYONE in the 7oh and kratom community should do right now is write down your personal story and save it in the Notes app on your phone.
Write about how 7oh and/or kratom has helped you, what your life was like before, what you use it for, how it improved your quality of life, and what would happen if it got banned. Explain why adults deserve legal access and why prohibition would hurt real people.
When talking to lawmakers, always push for common-sense regulations instead of outright bans. Support things like age limits, lab testing, accurate labeling, child-resistant packaging, and clear warnings. Those are reasonable protections. Total prohibition is not.
Also please stop relying on copy-and-paste templates when emailing legislators. Staffers can instantly tell when they’re reading the same message over and over, and a lot of those emails get ignored. Personal stories are what actually matter. A real message from a real person explaining how 7oh or kratom changed their life has far more impact than some generic form letter.
And everyone needs to help out when other states are facing bans, even if your own state is currently safe. It’s easy to ignore these fights when they aren’t happening where you live, but the reality is your state could be next at any time. We’ve already watched multiple states suddenly introduce bans with very little warning.
If your state was under attack, you’d want people from all over the country calling, emailing, spreading awareness, and supporting your community too. That’s why we all need to help each other now. The more united we are, the harder it becomes for lawmakers to ignore us.
That’s how we fight this stuff. Together.
When lawmakers receive hundreds of genuine personal stories from actual people, it forces them to stop and think about the real human impact these laws would have instead of just treating 7oh and kratom consumers like statistics.
The FDA Docket Comments Are Slowly Being Released in Batches. I Want to Personally Thank Everyone Who Left Comments 🙏💚
Before we asked everyone to leave a comment on the FDA docket regarding supplements there were only 9 comments. At the deadline, we received over 900 comments, and I think a huge majority were from us💪💚.
I've been reading them and there are so many heartfelt stories about how 7oh and kratom have been helping people. I think they have to release them in batches because I assume they need to ensure there are no curse words or other objectionable content in them (just a guess).
If you have a chance take a few minutes to read over some of the comments. It shows how important 7oh and kratom are to so many people and why banning either would be detrimental. It's so nice knowing our public comments are on record with the FDA. Amazing job everyone!👏
This didn’t happen by accident. It happened because people showed up. Calls were made. Emails were sent. Voices were heard.
A lot of you took time out of your day, some of you made multiple calls, some of you followed this closely for weeks. That kind of pressure matters more than people think, especially when things come down to the final hours like this.
There was real concern this could move late in session, and it didn’t. That’s a direct result of advocacy and people refusing to stay silent.
Seriously, thank you to everyone who took action, shared information, and helped keep others informed. It made a difference.
Let's keep fighting for other states that are facing bans. We're all in this together 💪
A simple way to explain 7oh extracts to people who are misinformed is by using the orange vs vitamin C analogy.
Kratom leaf is like eating an orange. You are getting the full mix of natural compounds that come with the plant. 7oh extracts are like taking vitamin C from that orange and isolating it into a supplement. It is still coming from the same natural source, but instead of the whole plant profile you are focusing on one specific compound in a more concentrated form similar to mitragynine extracts.
The conversation is not about good vs bad. It is about whether someone prefers whole leaf kratom or a single isolated compound for their personal needs.
A common argument is “just use kratom instead”. The reality is that whole leaf kratom is not the right fit for everyone. Some people dealing with chronic pain or specific situations may respond differently depending on the form they use.
Some people cannot tolerate the plant material itself and get stomach discomfort from digesting the fiber and plant matter.
Others do not tolerate mitragynine or full spectrum extracts well. Kratom and mitragynine extracts can also cause what people call the “wobbles,” which is an extremely unpleasant experience involving dizziness, nausea, and visual or coordination issues. It is not considered dangerous, but it can be extremely uncomfortable and can catch people off guard the first time they experience it. Most users report that 7oh extracts are less associated with that type of effect compared to kratom and mitragynine extracts, though experiences may vary.
Kratom also works across multiple receptor systems, and some of its alkaloids interact with serotonin pathways. That is why people sometimes bring up concerns about interactions with SSRIs when using kratom. 7oh has less activity on serotonin compared to full spectrum kratom, so that specific concern is considered substantially lower when using 7oh extracts vs kratom powder or full spectrum extracts.
Another factor is stimulation. Mitragynine dominant kratom powder and mitragynine extracts can feel stimulating for some people, similar to coffee, which can increase anxiety or jitteriness. 7oh dominant products tend to be less stimulating for many people and more calming in comparison.
So when people say “just use kratom instead,” it is not always that simple. Different forms affect people differently depending on their body chemistry and tolerance. 7oh extracts have helped so many people that didn't respond well to kratom or mitragynine extracts in regards to pain relief and harm reduction.
If someone pushes back on the analogy, the main point is this. The orange and vitamin C comparison is not about saying one is better or worse. It is just a simple way to explain whole plant versus isolated compounds in a way most people can understand.
TLDR: Kratom leaf is like an orange, 7oh extracts are like vitamin C from that orange. Same source, different form. Whole plant vs isolated compound.
Some people don’t tolerate kratom well due to stomach issues, stimulation, or side effects like the wobbles. 7oh works differently for many people and is often better tolerated depending on body chemistry.
It’s not about good vs bad, it’s about what works best for the individual.
