I have reason to believe that sublingual doesn’t actually work
So a couple hours ago I took some 7 tabs and chewed them up and let em sit under my tongue for 15 minutes before swallowing. I threw them up as soon as I swallowed due to hitting my vape too hard. I wasn’t worried about it because it all should have been dissolved under my tongue and in my bloodstream by that point, right?
Well, about an hour later, not only did I not feel a thing, but I actually went into mild withdrawal since my last dose was 28 hours ago. It was the same dose I usually take, from the same brand, even from the same bottle/batch as my last dose which kicked my ass the day before. I had to take another dose which worked within 10 minutes of swallowing
I don’t claim to be a chemist or pharmacologist but if sublingual works, it should have been absorbed into my system before I puked it up, right?
I would imagine certain factors like what form it’s in (salt vs freebase) would play a role, but I always take it the same way, chew it up and let it sit under my tongue for 10-15 minutes before swallowing, and this is the only time it didn’t work.
I’ve even experimented with adding a small bit of fumaric acid under my tongue with my 7 to convert it to a salt in case it was freebase and the results were inconclusive due to having a high tolerance
It makes me wonder if sublingual absorption is a myth, or if it only works for certain salts that are more water soluble and thus have an easier time crossing through the mucus membranes and into the bloodstream
Anyone smarter than me wanna weigh in?
