So, it's been a very interesting week. If you saw my previous post about manufacturing my own sleeves, you might have been anticipating an update. Well, here it is!

I wanted to get a sense of what the finished sleeve would look like, so I started by using my FDM printer to create a physical model. It quickly became clear that it wasn't going to be a sustainable way to produce the quality of mold I wanted for the finished platinum silicone.

So I took the next step. I invested in some quality equipment that better utilizes my professional skill set, and I've made some serious progress.

Just one picture for now, but it should give you a pretty good idea of where I am and how things are coming along.

I've always been the type of person to learn how to do things firsthand. I have a background in aerospace/industrial coatings. I already had the 3D printer kicking around and most of the materials.

This is the Master model. Once it's dry, I'll knock it down with 600 grit and use it to make an epoxy mold for the platinum silicone but for now I'm just going to focus on getting the mold completed and the silicone poured.
