Ex-Evangelical Now Naked and Free! (my story below)
My 25 year old self would have never went to a nude beach, even though, inside I was dying too!
I grew up in a very conservative evangelical religion that taught me nudity was shameful.
Men should never wear shorts and women’s skirts should be longer than their knees!
Not only did this cause me to be shameful about my body, but also about my sexuality.
I had to fake being straight and felt like I’d rather die than live like my authentic self.
Through a series of what I now call “Divine events” I was able to escape that environment, open my mind, and be my true self.
This took years and I’m probably still recovering from all the religious trauma on some levels, but this 53 year old man loves to be naked and free.
I love being a gay man and wouldn’t trade it. I love my naked body and I’m proud of it.
To anyone reading this that still feels stuck in religious shame, I tell you that there is hope. There is a better life waiting for you.
A horrible, dark life IS NOT waiting for you if you walk away from the evangelical church.
It’s actually quite the opposite. I was never more depressed than when I was in it and not living true to myself.
I hope my story helps someone get on the bath to being more free and positive about there naked body.
