"Cheated" on bf through sorority hazing initiation

hi, people asked for my original post to my recent follow-up because they said they never saw it so im reposting and also updating because i had some people say my original post was a bit vague.

18 female my social groups are mostly all Asians and that includes my boyfriend and my friends. More sheltered not party type.

I joined an asian sorority on campus but due to funding cuts we were forced to partner with the larger white frat for resource sharing. We dont have the membership to survive off numbers alone after we lost our subsidy and they have the largest base.

The sorority leadership told us during rush there would be no hazing but went back on that when we found out we had to do a hazing initiation.

Even tho we had bfs they didnt care and had us hook up with the white frat. they were very racist about it and when i called them out they said its not racist its "raceplay." Yay college. :/

Got a few questions about why i post this in this sub so i want to clarify. No i didnt like the hazing initiation, actually several of us had bfs and we asked for a different initiation but they would not change it.

Another question i got was why not just leave and not join? well its the only group for people like us in this area which is not very diverse. plus my friend really wanted to join because if we do we have safety in numbers and i wasnt going to just leave her alone.

How do i feel about this now? well i feel bad and ashamed it happened. kinda frustrated and scared about it. i feel a lot of buyer's remorse. but leadership told me hookup and hazing is normal in greek life and that im just overreacting because im sheltered. i dont know how true that is. I figure people in this sub would have more insight. Maybe tell me im not a horrible person? So yeah thats my intent.

Gatekeeping

Hey everyone, Asian college girl here. so I posted before about being introduced to raceplay last year during my first year of college. i made it clear i never even heard of it before and my background is more straight laced and i guess sheltered than the party vibes at college.

I got two types of major responses, people attacking and judging me for "cheating" on my asian bf or people berating me for being a "slut" and gaslighting me and accusing me of being a bad person. they will aggressively attack me and accuse me of liking it and when i tell them i dont, they refuse to listen and force themselves on me anyway all because i posted about the topic? this is insane. why does everyone act like everyone else in this space is a 100 year veteran with experience in this culture? i guess its a bullying thing like they do in a lot of fields where they say gatekeep newbies because they dont like people who aren't purist?

Introduced to Raceplay from Sorority Hazing in College

Hey everyone, I am an Asian F who was introduced to raceplay from a sorority hazing initiation with the white frats. Im new to all of this as i grew up more sheltered and mostly dated within my community of people. What i mean is my boyfriend and all my friends are asian. Didnt do drugs or drink or any of that, just like cool restaurants and streaming anime with my bf and friends.

Moving into the second year of college after the roller coaster of the first year, i decided to avoid the mixers less. one time i brought my bf and they got pissy because they said no guys in not from the frat so i been kinda leery since they push up on you there and try to get you to drink and stuff. Well here goes!

Original to the follow-up of my Sorority Initiation

hi, people asked for my original post to my recent follow-up because they said they never saw it so im reposting.

18f my social circle is mostly all Asians and that includes my boyfriend and my friends. we do a lot of eating out at restaurants, love dessert bars, boba drinks and things like that. Also love kawaii things and anime streaming. :)

Earlier this year i joined a sorority of color thats facing some funding cut issues. Even though they said they didnt haze at the rush, they made us do a pledge where we have to hook up with the White frat seniors in a racist way and when I called that out they said it wasnt racism its "raceplay". Let's say this is not something im used to. they say im just sheltered and that both hazing and hookups are normal in college.

Please no judgment or victim blaming. Trying to make sense of this new world. Thanks!

Update from College

Hellooo College-age Asian American girl here with a little update lol.

I posted a while back about starting college, rushing a sorority, and basically getting thrown headfirst into the whole party scene with the white frats on campus—including a hazing racist hookup initiation despite having a bf that was honestly my first real introduction to that world. I also really want to say that I don’t feel like this was my fault. A few of us had already told them we had boyfriends and that we weren’t comfortable with that part of the initiation, but it felt like our concerns weren’t really taken seriously.

It was such a huge culture shock. Pretty much all of my friends growing up were Asian, my boyfriend is Asian, and I was never really around that kind of partying or shady culture before.

Whats weird is when I posted about it, people talk to you like you been in the lifestyle forever. They make assumptions and get into all these nuance like hello, i literally said i was just introduced to this existing because before growing up i never even heard of it.

I was super sheltered before, so at first everything felt intimidating, sketchy, and way outside my comfort zone. Now I'm starting to get more comfortable and just figuring things out as I go. Still learnin to crack the shell though. baby steps!

I’m just trying to understand this new chapter of my life and figure out what feels right for me. A few people told me they wanted me to keep updating, so I’ll try to share more as I keep navigating everything!

Mixer Update since hazing initiation from Asian Sorority Member

Hey everyone!! It’s been a minute since I posted because I didn’t really have any updates, but I finally have one so I thought I’d share lol. to recap im Asian F in college, new to greek life.

For anyone who remembers my last post about Greek life hazing/initiation, that’s actually how I got introduced to the raceplay lifestyle through the white frat my sorority partners with.

The first event was honestly really awkward. It’s already nerve-wracking when you feel like you’re being tested to fit in, and with some of the guys being pretty openly hostile and being in the South where racism is already very common, it made everything feel extra intense.

I’m officially part of the group now, but I usually avoid the mixers because they can be really pushy. If you say no, they’ll keep trying, and it gets uncomfortable. and if u say no enough they just bring another guy to hound u and it never stops. like pushy sales people. I even brought my bf once and they got upset because he wasn’t in the frat and wouldnt let him go in.

Anyway, with the new semester starting, my sorority talked me into going to another event. They promised it would be more chill, and honestly it was. There were fewer people since not everyone was back yet, and the frat helped me relax beforehand with drinks and some molly.

This time was different because instead of everyone pressuring me, they actually let me choose the guy. which was awkward. I was still nervous, but not as anxious. I ended up picking this stocky redheaded guy who seemed way less douchey than some of the others. Turns out he’s a state champ wrestler and stuff. it was crazy.

The whole thing kinda went down to the first hook up, but the vibe was way less intense without the hostility. They backed off more, and it felt a lot less stressful and uncomfortable.

Anyway, that’s my little update!! Here’s to a new school year and hopefully a less chaotic semester. More to share if I have anything to!
