I freaked out over bumps down there. Turned out to be PPP.

A while back I noticed these small bumps around the head of my penis. Tiny. Skin-colored. In neat little rows.

My heart dropped. I thought it was an STI. Something serious. I spent nights googling and spiraling. I felt disgusting. I avoided intimacy because I was embarrassed about how it looked. It messed with my head for weeks.

Turns out they're called pearly penile papules. Completely harmless. Not an STI. Not cancer. Just a normal anatomical variation. Something like 15-30% of guys have them. Maybe more.

I eventually saw a doctor who confirmed it in about two seconds. I felt so relieved but also kinda dumb for panicking for so long.

Here's the thing though. A lot of guys get depressed or anxious about how they look down there because of PPP. They think something's wrong with them. They avoid sex. They feel alone. And nobody talks about it so they suffer in silence.

If the appearance really bothers you there are options. CO2 laser treatments can remove them professionally. It's a quick procedure with minimal downtime. Totally optional but available if you want it.

I've attached three photos of my glans showing the PPP surrounding the edge. You can see them clearly in a ring around the head. Some spots are even near my frenulum which is something I hadn't seen in other examples online. Seeing it on yourself and seeing it on someone else are two different things. These photos helped me realize I wasn't alone and that this is just how some guys are built.

If you've got bumps down there don't assume the worst. Get checked. But also know that PPP is a thing and it's totally normal.

Thought circumcision was your only option? You might want to read this.

A lot of guys with phimosis think getting cut is the only answer. But there are other options. Steroid creams. Stretching routines. Minor procedures that don't remove the foreskin.

Surgery is an option but it's very rarely the first one. I used to suffer from it personally and have managed to sort it out by using steroids and stretching rings. Your not alone and there is help available

Hot take, we need better sex ed

Anyone else feel like school sex ed completely failed us? Mine was basically just wear a condom and that was it. Nothing about Gential care. Nothing about skin conditions. Nothing about what's normal and what's not.

What did your sex ed actually cover? Or did you have to figure everything out on your own too?
