My big nipples swear so much with hot weather

Just under a year ago, I had my navel pierced; it seems to have rejected a bit. I saw the piercer again, and he told me it needed to be pierced at a larger gauge, as there is less risk of rejection. He repierced it through the two existing holes at 8g. I don’t know if it was a good idea to repierce it immediately rather than waiting and repiercing later. What do you think? It doesn’t seem very deep.
