At my wits end (long post, apologies)
I am so fed up with this. Medical TMI warning for post, but this is a hemorrhoid group so I hope that's okay.
36 m (if that matters) and I have struggled with this most if not all of my life. As a kid we noticed blood in my stool; two colonoacopies later and all we know is fissures and polops. What caused it or how to treat it? Never told us, just live with it.
As an adult the real problems started in late 20s. I began having "flare-ups" as I started calling them. I would be fine for months and then the pain would start and last weeks or months. The worst one a few years ago was so bad I was in constant pain. Side-note, every muscle in your body seems to be connected to the anus; I couldn't walk, bend, cough, laugh, blink without being in pain. It was hell.
Aftet that flare-up I would have one every few months. Most of the day I'm fine but I'll have periods where it hurts so bad down there I can't think about anything else. Sometimes I can't sleep for the pain. My latest (which I'm currently in) started from a series of very hard stools (something else I can't pin down the cause of, my diet hasn't changed).
I have tried everything I can think of. No longer use toilet paper, only wipes. Preparation H is a joke, I can almost feel the hemorrhoids laugh at it. An Asian product I got off Amazon called Mayinglong (I may have seen it here) helps better than prep h but not much better. Sitz baths only soothe as long as I'm in it, and sometimes not even then (I honestly may have the water too hot on that, idk). Sometimes ibuprofen helps numb the pain, but not always.
Doctors I've been to basically said take a bath and live with it, I don't have insurance or money to go to a specialist.
The only thing Ive ever done that helped was I noticed a long period of calm when I was doing keto. Idk if that correlates, but maybe something about the inflammation.
I'm so tired of being in pain and so tired of dreading a bathroom visit. If anyone has any suggestions aside from a bath or prep h please let me know. Even if you just wanna tell me you understand and have had them this bad, at this point I just feel weak and crazy for being this affected by this. I hate it, absolutely hate it.
Sorry for the long post, literally writing in a moment of pain. Best wishes to everyone who sees this, hope we are all as comfortable as we can be!
30F had this for months
Hi, I've had this bulging in and out for months only when I pass a bowel movement. Doesn't bother me I just know it's there. It doesn't hurt, bleed or itch. Internal hemerroid? Get removed if it is?
help
I've been bleeding for nearly 2 weeks and it's heavy ive been taking diosmin and hesperadin for 2 weeks also but it still didn't stop, though it is not hurting but it itch once in a while.

Does this look like a hemorrhoids??
NsFW
I am currently on GLP1 and often struggle with going to the bathroom or having hard stools. This past week, I have been noticing sharp pain when bowel movement is coming out and more concerning, bright red blood on toilet paper after wiping. I suspect I had something similar many years ago.
Last night after a BM, it felt like something small was kind of stuck up there, kinda looks like a little flab? I took a picture though hard to see, for those who are familiar with these, I am wondering if this looks like a hemmorrhoid? Sorry for the TMI.
hemorrhoid surgery and scared.
i’m posting this again with a different title in hopes someone responds, so to start off I’m 23f and recently went to a gastroenterologist and from there was referred to a colorectal surgeon. I was told I have a grade 3 hemorrhoid with external components (making them mixed most likely from a thrombosed external hemmy at the same time as a internal hemorrhoid combining) and was told I would need a one column surgery and not rubber band ligation because of the external components making it too risky. Also he had told me that I don’t need to push in my internal hemorrhoid because it can cause irritation to the external components and essentially make them worse and idk how to feel about this. before this I was always pushing them back inside like every 30 minutes because part of it would slip back out but i’m guessing that’s the external part. This has been very debilitating for me and i’ve never experienced this before so it was all just a shock. I’m having multiple panic attacks, been in pain while being uncomfortable 24/7. I’m scared about the surgery but this place was the only place close to me that accepts self pay so a second opinion isn’t really possible for me rn. I recently lost my insurance benefits while my mom was in the hospital needing an emergency tracheotomy after she had stopped breathing for 6 mins but managed to revive her. I reapplied and decided to give it 2 weeks and deal with the pain but the pain was too bad and ofc this happens when I lose my benefits. This has really put a huge toll on my life with already terrible mental health. I’ve been through so much and i’m just tired. I just need some kind words to push me through this or words of motivation for anyone who’s been through this.
Fixed Constipation
For context I have been dealing with the following symptoms for 5 plus years.
- Hard stools
- Stools that are large and dry
- I would go every day but don’t feel like I emptied
- Bloating
- Gas
I have gone to over 10 GI and CRS specialists.
I took every supplement known to man hoping to fix my situation.
I took laxatives
You name it I have done it.
What was my cause of all my discomfort:
DAIRY. Even lactose free.
How did I find out ? I did an allergy blood test in 2023 and all those specialists dismissed the results. While the top three markers were Cow milk, Casein, Whey, Goat milk etc …. Everything to do with Dairy. Casein is very important because if you can’t process it it will literally grind your transmit time to a halt which obviously then your body suck the water out of your stool and hence the issues.
All those doctors said if I was allergic to Dairy I would have hives and other immune conditions. They noted I would have diarrhea not constipation.
Well it’s been over a week now since I completely cut out dairy from my diet. I mean everything that has dairy good bye. And my stools were so easy to pass. I forgot the feeling of how easy to pass. The colour of my stool went from dark brown to a normal light brown. No more pain at all during or after. I don’t feel puffy or inflammed. My skin texture returned to normal. It feels softer. Even my wife noticed the difference in how I looked.
Also ! My urine. Every time I would pee my urine would create these massive bubbles or foam. The doctors said it was the force of the pee hitting the water. Or if there were chemicals in the water. I said no and they did a urine test and said everything was normal. No it wasn’t. When I cut out dairy the bubbles or foam was greatly reduced ! I looked it up it meant I have excessive proteins in my body which my kidneys where working overtime to get rid of. Again the medical world failed to identify.
I finally hear grumbling in my stomach I haven’t heard that sound in over 5 years. My stomach is flat even after eating maybe slightly distended because of the food but no pain or cramping or gas. No more heart burn. No nothing. I can even notice when I am full! Before I would eat so much food and never get full! I have actually lost 3 to 6 pounds in a week. Maybe it was all that shit that was backed up.
My diet I have returned to normal. I mean everything is normal. All meats, veg, fruits but obviously no dairy.
If this helps someone else amazing.
Last note. All the doctors said I suffer from IBS-C. Which is BS IMO. There is always a root cause for everything. And mine was Dairy. It took me years to figure this out I am just hoping this will help other people who are going through this and will help them find relief from this.
Conclusion:
You know your body best. Don’t settle when a doctor tells you it’s nothing or it’s pelvic floor dysfunction or IBS or SIBO. There is a root cause to everything. Chances are if you weren’t born with a certain condition or something and just one day something changed then it’s likely your body developing an allergy or an intolerance to something.
Don’t just Chug plain water. I added electrolytes to my first liter of water. If I don’t have that I added a pinch of salt into my water. I usually consume over 2 liters of water. Salt helps bind the water molecules for enhanced hydration. Why do you guys think Gatorade is a bit salty ;)
Ligasure hemorrhoidectomy experience - post op
Has anyone had surgery using the Ligasure method?
If so, how long did it take you to recover? When were you able to return to absolute normalcy, walking, driving a car, etc.?
When is it okay to lift heavy objects?
Personally, I had external hemorrhoids, stage 4.
I’m on 20day post operation.
If you’re scared, please read ❤️
Hello to anyone who is seeking some reassurance about a hemorrhoidectomy! I am here for you!
I, 21F, am on day 6 of post-op from a closed hemorrhoidectomy.
If I could tell my past self from two weeks ago what I know now, I think she’d be a lot less scared about this surgery.
This surgery is not the “hell” or “nightmare” I read about AT ALL.
I know this probably seems really scary. I am not going to explain my account here in detail, but if anyone needs reassurance, has any questions or wants more detail: please feel free to message me! I know you are scared, and I want to help you!
If you don’t feel comfortable messaging me, I will leave you with a few things: BE BRAVE!! You CAN do this! You WILL get through this! Have a positive outlook, and start a stool-softening regimen a week before the procedure. I believe in you, and you will be okay, friend! ❤️❤️ I promise!
What is this? 27f Armenia
No pain but I’m currently experiencing a severe allergic rash on this whole area so might be related??
It doesn’t seem to be painfu
29M - Bright red bleeding for 6 days.
I’m a 29-year-old male. I’ve had bright red bleeding with bowel movements for 6 days after constipation and straining. I went to urgent care today. They did a digital rectal exam and didn’t find an external hemorrhoid, fissure, or a mass. They think it could be an internal hemorrhoid and referred me to a gastroenterologist for possible anoscopy/colonoscopy. I’ve started Metamucil, increased water, and a high-fiber diet. I noticed this small pink tissue near my anus today (photo attached). Has anyone had something similar? How long did it take to heal?
Is this a skin tag? Please help!
29M. I had a small inflamed lump around my anus after anal sex on June 1st that appeared on June 4th. I thought it was a hemorrhoid (not sure if anal tissure) and used Preparation H for it.
It started inflamed and irritated, then gradually improved over the next period.
It has now been about 32 days (today is July 6th).
There is no pain anymore.
I took this picture today of my anus.
This is what is left. It feels like (when squeezed) soft skin or tissue and looks smaller than before, but I am not fully sure if it is still healing or just staying the same. But it doesn't hurt.
Three questions:
What could this be? A leftover skin tag from a hemorrhoid or something else?
If it is a skin tag, do these usually shrink and go away over time, or are they permanent once formed? Is it still possible that this is still healing at this stage? (I know I am a slow healer in general, even the tiniest wounds take ages with me.)
When should this be checked by a doctor, and is surgery needed for what you see or will it resolve on its own?
This is my first time dealing with anything like this and it has made me pretty self conscious, especially during sex. I've worked very hard to go to the gym, work on myself and this came totally out of left field. I am worried it might be noticeable or off putting or mistaken for a disease... people are very judgmental.
Hemorrhoidectomy Success Story
I had my procedure on 6/22 for a right lateral hemorrhoid and an anterior midline anal skin tag.
Prior to the operation, I had been suffering from a prolapsed, thrombosed hemorrhoid for one week. It was by far the most uncomfortable and traumatizing experience of my life. My job involves field visits and going to the office once a week. In that one-week period, I had to manually push back the hemorrhoid every 2 minutes, and when I walked long distances, I could feel it slowly coming down between my legs (it was the size of a golf ball).
I did some research prior to the operation, read mixed post-op reviews, and got extremely scared and anxious.
On the day of the operation, time felt like it was slowing down, and my fears and anxiety ate me alive. The procedure was fairly quick. I was under anesthesia, and when I woke up, I did not feel a thing. I was prescribed Diazepam and Oxycodone, which I did not end up taking since the pain was manageable — I would rate it a 6/10.
My first BM was scary since I had a hard stool, but I took Tylenol and Motrin and the pain decreased. I then learned to eat soft foods and drink plenty of water, since I was taking Metamucil and Docusate to keep my stools soft.
As I look back on the days when my hemorrhoid was swollen, I feel thankful that I went through with the surgery. Now, I am able to poop normally without the thought of manually pushing it back or worrying that something I ate will trigger it. Instead of taking showers after every BM, I can now use a peri bottle and flushable wet wipes to clean up.
If you are currently considering surgery to get rid of your hemorrhoid pain, go for it. Every day gets better after the operation. Based on my experience, after the procedure it’s extremely important to eat a high-fiber diet, drink plenty of water, and keep your stool soft.
What type of hemorrhoid is this? Do I need to seek medical attention? 28F Usa
Photo number one was in February. It had me in a lot of pain for two days until I got preparation H and Tucks because I was assuming it was that. It shrunk and didn’t bother me at all for months (I have a pretty good diet and good habits). Second pic it’s from last night with preparation H. I think it was triggered by a two-day diarrhea episode.
Since it happened a second time now I’m worried. What type of hemorroid could this be? Do I need to seek medical attention to keep it from happening? It looks a hit smaller compared to the first time but the pain is very uncomfortable.
20m hemorrhoid and skin tag?
i caught my hemorrhoid relatively late until it got worse, please help
29F, is this a hemorrhoid? Im panicking!
I have never once in my life had this happen before! I never even knew what hemorrhoids were before now. I pooped a few days ago and it was a little painful and then a couple days after that I felt like there was something I needed to wipe (this was random BTW not even after pooping) and had blood coming from my butt when I wiped. I didnt think much of it but now 2 or 3 days later I literally just woke up to my butt hole hurting with a sharp pain and something told me to take a picture to see if there was a cut or something. Imagine my horror when I look at the picture and see this
Google is saying its a hemorrhoid, and I have no idea what to do to fix this. I just took a warm bath and plan to go to the store to get OTC cream but I've been reading some folks say this could take MONTHS to heal??? I've also seen people say they had relief when it finally popped on its own, so does that mean we ourselves could just pop it then??
Idk if its relevant but I also have a job where im sitting down in an uncomfortable chair 24/7 almost I hear that can have an affect?
I am having a panic attack, I don't want to deal with hemorrhoids again
Please I don't want to read any rude or invalidating comments because this is a topic that is really personal and delicate to me.
Back when I was in high school, I developed hemorrhoids due to the friction of hard stools caused by constipation caused by an untreated gastrointestinal virus. The hemorrhoids became infected and I was leaking pus mixed with feces constantly and I smelled like crap wherever I went to regardless of much soap and wet wipes I used to clean myself and it completely destroyed my mental health and back then I was too poor to go to a doctor and it torture because of the pain when using the bathroom and the paranoia, it only went away when a doctor prescribed me a laxant months later. Suddenly dealing with constipation again and I don't know why this is happening when I've been taking care of my health. It hurts and there is blood down there although I'm not sure if it's a hemorrhoid or a fissure now, I don't know. I don't want to get out of my house because I'm afraid that I may smell like shit.
I am also sleep deprived so my health anxiety is even worse.
Will it heal on its own?
Female, 35. It comes and goes for about 4 months. I use cream, it disappears for few weeks and than comes again. Used to be not painful, just itchy. But yesterday it came again and today is quite painful.
Literalmente tomei no cu.
Agora elas vem forte
27, F- what can I do for the pain
Unsure if this is internal prolapsed or external. Can’t push it inside. I’m in absolute agony, everything hurts- can’t sit or walk without pain. Dr has me on the waitlist to see a specialist but the wait is 1 year. What can I do to help with the pain or help this thing get less painful. Thankyou!!
